Using Park Tool Pumps and Inflators with Clik® valves

About Clik Valves
Clik® valves are a newer valve stem design developed to address common frustrations with Presta valve stems, such as fragile tips prone to breakage, and difficulty achieving a consistent fit between all tube and pump head designs. Clik-specific pump heads don’t use a locking lever to engage onto the valve stem; rather, the pump head simply clicks onto the stem, and pulls off to disengage.
With a slick design, and backing from the likes of Schwalbe, it’s very possible that the Clik valve may become a popular choice amongst cyclists and possibly even manufacturers. However, as with any new proprietary technology in the bike industry, a common question we hear is: will this work with my old tools?
Product Compatibility
The short answer is: yes. Clik valves are the same outer diameter as traditional Presta valves, and can be inflated using most Presta-compatible pumps, including Park Tool pumps.
Travel Pumps
When using travel pumps such as the PMP-3.2, Clik valves are treated no differently than a standard Presta valve. With the pump configured for Presta valves and the handle down, simply push the pump fully onto the valve. Lift the handle to lock, and you are ready to start pumping. To remove, lower the handle and pull the pump straight off.
Floor Pumps
The Park Tool PFP-10 has a single-hole universal head. Fully push the head onto the valve and it will fill the tire and give an accurate pressure reading.
Older Park Tool pumps with a dual-opening head similar to the one found on this PFP-8 can be used to inflate a Clik valve, but the gauge will not give an accurate tire pressure reading.
Shop Inflators
Push the Presta side of the INF-2’s head fully onto the Clik valve. Pull the trigger as normal, and the tire will inflate.
If the valve is not fully engaged into the head, it may still inflate the tire, but the gauge pressure may not be accurate, so be sure that the valve is fully engaged.
