TECHNOLOGIES
*ENGINEERED COMFORT
HEAD SHAPE - Giro's own head shapes were developed using a combination of precise head scans, detailed fit studies and aggregation of data on head size and shape around the world. Giro also uses scaled head shapes to match our Asian fit line.
Helmets depth - The ideal helmet depth successfully combines comfort with complete coverage of the forehead, back of the head and ears. We achieve this through careful research and 3D printed prototypes to ensure perfect fit in comfort with low temperatures, high speeds and wind.
MIPS OFFSET - MIPS integration is taken into account from the start of the helmet's construction to ensure that the applied technology does not affect the comfort of use. Our current line of MIPS-equipped helmets offers such refined integration that most users never notice it's there.
*GIRO AUDIO ACCESSORIES BY OUTDOOR TECH - Wireless Chips 2.0 headphones are equipped with one-touch control buttons and wireless call handling function. Wired Chips are a universal, wired model with easy-to-use control (even in gloves) and 10-hour playback time. Both models feature full-range 40mm speakers and have been tested in temperatures up to -29°C.
*HARD SHELL CONSTRUCTION - Hard Shell construction creates great helmets at a great price. The durable outer shell is molded and then attached to the EPS foam insert.
*IN FORM FIT SYSTEM - The In Form adjustment system allows for easy selection of the right fit in a few seconds - even with gloves on. The ergonomic knob at the base of the helmet provides up to 6 cm of adjustment and increases stability. The vertical adjustment feature allows for accommodating different goggles and head shapes to fit them together without unnecessary looseness.
*MIPS EQUIPPED
PROVIDING ADDITIONAL PROTECTION IN CASE OF SOME TYPICAL FALLS - We have spent many years working with MIPS designers. The technology was developed by researchers from Karolinska Hospital and the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. The concept is based on over two decades of scientific research. Through our wide-ranging tests, we believe that helmets equipped with this technology provide an additional means of protection in case of some typical falls. We are pleased to offer MIPS technology in our entire range of Giro Snow helmets, from freestyle through All Mountain to Alpine Race and junior models.
Main elements of the MIPS-equipped helmet are: 1. The inner EPS foam insert, 2. The low-friction insert, and 3. The elastomeric attachment system. In the event of an impact at an angle, the elastomeric attachment system stretches, allowing the EPS foam insert to rotate independently around the head.
*PERFECTING FIT
THE SUM IS GREATER THAN ITS PARTS - Perfecting fit is a science. It's the sum of 30 years of Giro's experience in creating helmets and a dash of black magic. It's the countless hours spent on research and development in our world-class testing lab in Santa Cruz, California. It's science, math, and technology; all backed by fit development research, thousands of 3D head scans, and user feedback to ensure perfect fit. The result is precise and consistent fit to all Giro helmet and goggle models, addressing various construction types, head shapes, sizes, and different fit systems. We call this ongoing process our formula for perfect fit, and it's this dedication that makes Giro the leading choice worldwide.
*PRECISION PADDING
DESIGNING THE CROWN ZONE - Giro's padding is strategically placed and works in conjunction with the head shape, helmet depth, and MIPS system. The padding is placed to provide warmth and ventilation, and to match the helmet's ventilation systems and achieve uniform compatibility with Giro goggles.
EAR POSITIONING - Ear positioning is a key element of fit and comfort. Each Giro helmet model is tested to achieve the ideal ear positioning, ensuring the necessary warmth, comfort, and wind reduction, all without compromising the ability to hear the surroundings.
*SEAMLESS COMPATIBILITY
TOGETHER IT'S BETTER - Giro helmets and goggles have been carefully designed and tested to work seamlessly together as a single unit. We consider all aspects of integration and functionality to achieve perfect fit, comfort, and performance on the snow.
GLASSES ATTACHMENT POSITIONING - Proper glasses attachment positioning completes the Giro package. Necessary is the easy integration of goggles and helmets to achieve the highest performance. The risks associated with poor attachment positioning include: poor helmet fit on the head, reduced visibility, brain freeze, poor ventilation, and the gap between the helmet and goggles.
*STACK VENT - Our ventilation chimney was developed based on research showing that most warm air that can cause fogging escapes from the middle top ventilation opening of the goggles. Aligning the helmet's ventilation opening with the goggles' opening helps keep it clear and fog-free.
*THERMOSTAT CONTROL
Regulated ventilation Thermostat Control allows for immediate adjustment of airflow using a simple, low-profile knob on the outside of the helmet. No other system is faster or easier to adjust, and nothing is more effective in maintaining comfort.
